Last night (Tuesday, February 9) BBC’s Spotlight programme focused on the recent ‘deal’ between the establishment parties and the London and Dublin governments. The programme featured a short section of an interview with éirígí chairperson Brian Leeson. In response to one question Leeson highlighted the fact that MI5, the British Army and the ‘national security’ related work of the PSNI would all remain firmly under the control of the British government – regardless of the so-called transfer of powers.
The programme also featured a short interview with Garvaghy Road Residents’ Coalition spokesperson Breandán Mac Cionnaith, who drew attention to the fact that sectarian marches had once again been placed centre stage despite the fact that such marches were a ‘dead’ issue in Portadown.
