Vote NO to the Austerity Treaty

No to the Austerity Treaty

For Community and Country, Vote NO!

If the latest European treaty is passed on May 31st, it will create a new law which will place permanent restrictions on government fiscal policy. This means that there will be legal limits on how much this government and all future governments can borrow and spend.

For example if a government needs to borrow money to invest in job creation, housing, healthcare or education they won’t be able to because of these new limits. The so-called Stability Treaty is nothing more than a financial strait-jacket designed to undermine the power of governments and people across Europe. If the treaty is passed it will lead to years more austerity as the government tries to reduce spending to within the new limits.

Blueshirts and Bankers Vote Yes

If you aren’t sure about what way to vote just look at the rogues gallery that are calling on you to vote yes. Fianna Fáil, a party of gombeen men and cute hoors; Fine Gael, a party of Blueshirts that only ever cared about the rich; Labour, a party that has told more lies than Pinocchio; and IBEC, who represent big business, the banks and the bosses. Think about it. What have any of them ever done for you? And why do they want you to vote yes?

A New Republic

You, your family and your community deserve better than crumbs from the tables of the rich and powerful. You deserve, and have a right, to live in a new all-Ireland republic; a Republic which puts the interests of the majority ahead of the ruling minority; a Republic which ensures that wealth and power are spread evenly across all of society; a Republic which guarantees all of its citizen’s access to jobs, housing, healthcare and education. A new Irish Socialist Republic.

Don’t be intimidated by the threats of the government, the right-wing media and the Troika. We are a proud people who have fought long and hard for freedom from the British Empire. Don’t now surrender that freedom to a European Empire. The future of Ireland is your hands. Vote NO!

Vótáil NÍL ar son Pobail agus Tíre

Má ritear leis an gconradh Eorpach ar an 31ú Bealtaine cuirfear dlí nua ar bun a chuirfidh buanshrianta i bhfeidhm ar bheartais fhioscacha rialtais. Is éard atá i gceist leis an gConradh Cobhsaíochta ná sriantacht airgeadais a chur i bhfeidhm a bhainfidh an bonn de chumhacht rialtas agus dhaoine ar fud na hEorpa. Má ritear leis an gconradh beidh tuilleadh déine i gceist agus an rialtas ag iarraidh caitheamh airgid a choinneáil taobh istigh de theorainneacha nua.

Tá sé de cheart agat agus ag do theaghlach cónaí i bpoblacht nua uile-Éireann a chinntíonn fáil ar phostanna, tithíocht, cúram sláinte agus oideachas. Poblacht Shóisialach nua Éireannach a chinntíonn go roinnfear saibhreas agus cumhacht go cothrom ar fud na sochaí.

Ná bíodh imeagla ort i ngeall ar bhagairtí an rialtais, mheáin chumarsáide na heite deise agus na triúrachta. Tá todhchaí na hÉireann i do lámha. Vótáil NÍL!

5 Reasons to Vote NO on May 31st:

  1. For Yourself. The so called Stability Treaty, like all previous EU treaties, is a right wing document designed to embed right-wing policies into the domestic law of participating countries. And such policies always place the interests of business ahead of the interests of workers. When times get tough workers are forced to pay with their wages, their conditions and even their jobs. So if you believe that workers like you should have secure employment, fair wages, paid holidays, sick pay and a decent pension vote NO on May 31st.
  2. For Your Family. Over the past five years virtually every family in Ireland has been negatively affected by austerity. Our grown sons and daughters have been forced to choose between the dole queues and emigration. Our elderly parents have been left lying on hospital trolleys. Our children struggle to get places in over-crowded and under-resourced schools. Our homes have been taxed and soon we will be expected to pay for the very water that we drink! For your children and your children’s children vote NO on May 31st.
  3. For Community. The government’s austerity programme has seen funding for virtually all community-based projects slashed over the last number of years. All across the state anti-drugs initiatives, community development programmes, community centres, women’s groups, sports clubs and a wide range of other community services have had their funding reduced or withdrawn completely. As a result many projects have been forced to reduce services or close down. These short-term financial gains will be paid for with the very fabric of our communities in the long term. Stand by your community services on May 31st and vote NO.
  4. For Ireland. Our country is under occupation. In the Six Counties the old British Empire asserts its control through force of arms. In the Twenty-Six Counties the new European Empire doesn’t need to use soldiers or guns because the lackeys in Leinster House welcomed them with open arms. Do you really think that the British, German or French governments are going to do what is best for Ireland? Freedom without economic freedom isn’t freedom at all. On May 31st vote NO to the surrender of any more sovereignty to the EU.
  5. For Europe. Voting NO on May 31st does not make you ‘anti-European’. In fact it does just the opposite. By voting NO you are standing shoulder to shoulder with people all across the EU who are opposed to the failed policy of austerity. The people of France and Greece have already done their bit. They told the EU’s ruling elite that they will not take any more austerity. Now it is our turn. On May 31st the hopes of tens of millions of ordinary Europeans will be rest with us. Let’s show them that the Irish still know how to fight for their freedom!
